World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The thrilling extra-inning contest that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined 51 million viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB reported this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a 16% increase over the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 p.m. local time, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete American average reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason ratings after 2017.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen various tongues.
